Lace, Floral and Feathers.

Lace, Floral....

No longer having a job in which I have to worry about getting creams, tints and wax all over my clothing, it has been nice to be able to wear the pieces in my closet to my new job that I had refrained from wearing at the old one.

I found this great Banana Republic ivory colored lace top, last spring at Buffalo Exchange while still living in San Antonio. Love it. They had SUCH a great selection at that B.E. location when they first opened due to the fact that they received part of their opening shipment from NYC.
The vintage floral necklace I am wearing, I also thrifted while living in San Antonio. I purchased it at a great little vintage shop called Redemption Garb, that a friend owns. I miss that little shop, but luckily there are tons of little great vintage shops here in Seattle area as well :)

I paired the top with a black high waisted pencil skirt from H&M, black tights and my UO oxfords.

The other day we had a few cute little visitors on our back patio quacking around in the rain. Our kittie had a ball looking at the feathered little animals. They must be used to humans and other animals because both Dwight (cat) and I had our little noses (and my camera) pressed right up on the glass of the sliding glass door.

                            

I am a sucker for anything animal, esp. feathered. I loved their cute little webbed feet and seeing the rain gather in little beads on their feathers and then repel right off. The cat and I had a nice time observing these little creatures together haha

Curls Under Hat

So as many of you probably don't know, I have naturally curly/wavy hair but tend to do a good job ironing it into submission on a daily basis...yeah, yeah.. I know...bad for my hair. haha
I have been thinking about how much I need to stop flat ironing my hair everyday and just embrace my hair for what it is, which isn't easy at the current length it is. It looks far better curly when longer :/

Anyways, whenever my work (Aveda) releases a new product, we get it for free to try; Be Curly style prep this time. I have been wanting to try it, so I finally did today :) I like it, not heavy and helps control any frizz.

I liked my hat today with the curls peeking out from underneath. This UO sheer shirt made an appearance a few blogs ago upon purchasing it, but I love it so much that I don't really mind and thought it looked cute paired with some denim skinny jeans and a brown braided belt.

It was tooooo rainy today to take photos with my tripod outside and our apartment is too small for me to get any good photos using the tripod inside, so don't mind the "classic" mirror bathroom photos below hahaha

Discovering Discovery Park....

Ever since we moved back to the PNW, we have been trying to take advantage of all that nature has to offer in this beautiful part of the world, as often as possible. This weekend my husband and I had the extra time to explore a place that I have heard much about, Discovery Park in Seattle.

We took the Discovery Loop Trail, which was about 3 miles long and filled with tall mossy trees, hanging ferns and amazing views overlooking the Puget Sound. I haven't had the time to exercise much lately or ride my bike, so my shins are killing me from walking up and down the dirt paths, while trying to avoid the mud covered tree roots....but it was so worth it.

Being outside, breathing in the fresh air, seeing such beautiful sights and having the opportunity to take photographs made me feel alive again. I have always felt most alive while exploring new places and seeing things for the first time.

While walking along the trail, I couldn't help but keep stopping to take photos, all while saying, "this is so beautiful" or "look at that", about 100 times. haha

I can't wait till Spring and for there to be more nice weather weekends like this one, so we can continue to explore numerous other parks/trails in the area :)

Adios Texas...

It has been snowing the past few days here, soooo today I got a snow day from work! Going up and down hills, across the bridge and up and down more hills to get into the city didn't seem appealing to me in the slightest.

Rubber tires+icy inclines=Fail.   No bueno.

Considering I had the day off and had some business to take care of at a few near by places, I took advantage of the free time. We finally switched over the plates on our cars to WA plates last week....it feels nice to no longer be seen as an "outsider" while driving haha. So today we thought it would be fitting to switch over our licenses too! To become real Washington residents once again!

I took a photo of the photo on my license, for fear that they were going to take my Texas license away..which I wanted to keep as a souvenir of sorts. Lucky, they just clipped it. yay.
I will most definitely NOT miss people taking double and triple takes of me and my id, when trying to verify my age/identity. I look forward to having my new id actually look like me as I am now and have people actually be able to identify me, well..as me. Without the crazy colored hair, big gnarly septum ring and having lost 40 lbs since...I think that may be possible once again.

With the last little bit of our "Texasness" that was lingering, now gone...I have nothing but fond memories towards that silly, enormous state.

Sun, sheer and silk.

I haven't blogged since the first of the year, literally.  I am really bad at keeping this blog updated lately....so I hope you all haven't given up on following me! :)

Today was amazingly gorgeous! I convinced my sweet husband to take a few photos of me enjoying the great outdoors before we headed out to spend the day at Bellevue Square, looking for new shoes and enjoying a nice lunch together (thanks, tax return! haha)

Me saying that the grass was squishy and I was afraid to ruin my shoeeeesssss...

I am totally in love with this pretty sheer top I picked up the other day at Urban Outfitters, on their ever-so-wonderful clearance rack. $9 for a $42 top. Score.

Last weekend while staying at my parents, my mother brought out a box full of beautiful silk scarves that belonged to my grandmother whom passed away. She told me to choose one and they were all so wonderful it was hard to pick, but I liked this one best.

It's a New Year....

Happy 2011 everyone! Hope you all had a great 2010 and will have an even better 2011 :)

This being my first post of the new year, I thought it would be fitting to reflect and recap the major events of 2010 that took place in my life...some with photos!

The first major change was that in January of 2010 we decided since our lease was up at our old apartment we would move into the downtown area off of Broadway, to be closer to my school and just to be in a more "hip" location. Then my husband landed a sweet job at AT&T in San Antonio, which made us some nice $$$$. More than we have ever had since being a married couple.We were then able to do actual stuff and buy actual things..like this MacBook in which I am writing this very blog on, two nice road bikes and other random things we had been wanting/needing, but never had the extra cash for. It was great.

A few months later my husband found out that all his hard work had payed off in College at San Antonio and he was accepted into the college of his dreams back home in Washington. Redmond to be exact. We were more than excited and thrilled to be moving back home to the motherland!

A few months after that, I graduated from the Aveda Institute where I was attending their Esthiology program! I then had an actual set career path, which was great and it's something I actually enjoy. The week before graduating, my mom showed up in San Antonio for a surprise visit and to see me graduate. It was one of my happiest moments :)

Less than a month after graduating and obtaining my license, I landed a job at a spa! I was saving all my tips for the road trip home, hoping to cover the gas, food and hotel. We ended up using every last cent.

August 2010 came quickly, which was our month to depart from good ol' San Antone and back to The Great Pacific Northwest. It was bittersweet. We changed, grew and learned so much while living there over the past 2 years and 8 months. I will always miss the tacos. haha

My parents flew down to help us pack up the u-haul and make the 4-day drive to Washington state.

The next week or two after we arrived I was doing job interviews left and right. Receiving 3 offers..I accepted the best one and had a job secured after only being in Seattle for 3 weeks. It was such a relief!

My husband, Tim, started school in September, on the same day I started at my new job. Since then our lives have gone by sooo fast. We have already been here for 4 full months and Tim is already done with his first semester of school!

Last night (New Years), we headed up to Kerry Park on Queen Anne hill, to catch a glimpse of the fireworks at the Space Needle. It was freezing and packed at the little park. I choose not to bring my tri-pod due to the fact I would have had no where to place it on the ground and for fear it would get knocked over...thus making for some blurry photos :/ Oh well...the show was great and we love Seattle :D

Ohh and a few photos I didn't get a chance to post from last week, before Christmas..which was great btw! So nice to be back home for the holidays! 

Sooo last year we moved twice, once across town the other half way across country, Tim got accepted into his dream school, I graduated, we got sweet jobs and then quit sweet jobs, then I got a new job here and Tim started a brand new, uber demanding school. Lots of life changes...but we made it!

Heres to hoping this year is filled with less major life changes and some smooth sailing. I would love to not switch jobs a bunch this year and make a comfortable amount of money and for Tim just to keep owning at school. A chill 2011, please?! :)

It's a Corn Ball Christmas...

So we have been planning to buy our cute little kitty a santa outfit for our, "Christmas Family Portrait" and this year we finally did :D

This is purely out of humor and us not taking ourselves seriously one bit. Despite how coo-coo crazy his eyes look, he was actually purring while this photo was being taken. for real. haha
