A Night at the Beach

Have you ever been to a beach at night time? It is pretty spectacular.
Especially if the beach is across the water from a cool skyline that has amazing looking clouds hovering above it.

Tim and I were feelin' young, antsy and wanted to get out of the house last Saturday night. At about 9:30 we came to the spontaneous conclusion that we would go to a beach; Alki Beach in Seattle.
I brought my camera and tripod with hopes of getting some good photos. I really like the way these turned out, hope you enjoy them too....

The first photo is definitely my favorite.
In the 2nd photo, the moving object towards the left is a Ferry. I loved how it looked while in motion...

The entire time we were hanging out and taking these photos, we could hear the sea lions talking to each other and the clanging of the bells on the boats as they went by.
Such a nice experience.

A Peek Inside

Do you ever wonder what a persons surroundings are as they type their posts?
We often see the personal style, food they enjoy or photos outside of the place they call home, but rarely do we see the items inside of their residence that also reflects their personal style.

So, I decided to share my favorite bits and pieces that make up our home :)

I really like a funky mix of items and floral patterns of all colors. As you can probably tell, I really like birds, especially owls and little 70's inspired trinkets, although I try to stay away from a main "theme".

I also love filling my space with vintage pieces that were given to me and that have a little story behind them:

The penny-farthing (bike) wall hanging was given to me by my mom and used to hang in the kitchen of the house I grew up in. As a child, I used to stare at it as I ate my breakfast before school and would imagine myself being able to ride it around the neighborhood.
The little red mushroom with a hat on, was also given to me by my mother. Her sister and her made them in an art class while they were in elementary school. So cute.
The tin, Texas cigarette box was my late Grandpa's that he bought when stationed in Ft. Worth while in the military, way back in the day. Before my Grandma passed, she gave it to us while we were living in Texas. Even though I don't love Texas, I love this little gem.

Ohhhh and I totally know my cat isn't an item or decoration, but he is just tooo darn cute and a huge part of our little life not to include haha

Hope you enjoyed getting a little peek inside my home and getting to know me a little more :)

May 19th :)

For the past seven years, May 19th has been a very special day for me and/or us. It is this date, seven years ago, when a cute mohawked boy I had geometry class with in high school asked me, "Will you be my girlfriend?". I shyly  replied, "sure"..with a smile.

Sweet little baby-faced 16 year old me and 17 year old Tim....in the beginning.

.....Three years later (on May 19th) I married my best friend.....

Four years later  and I still feel like the luckiest little gal in the whole world!

I got this beautiful arrangement delivered to me while at work today. ORCHIDS. My fav. Best. Husband. Ever.

Oh and no picture involving anything new in our home would be complete without the Schrutester getting his nose in it :)

Can't wait to spend the rest of my years with that Tim of mine :)

Smile, it's sunny!

The sun is out today! Considering this has been such a rare event around these parts lately, I was cheesin' it up ever since those pesky little clouds parted earlier today and the first rays came through the windows at work. Low 60's isn't warm by any means, but hey...this girl takes what she can get.
It felt great to roll down the car windows, open the sun roof while on my commute home this evening and let the scent of fresh cut grass waft through the air.

Have a nice evening. Hope it is filled with Sun :D

Ughhhhhhhh...

Generally I like to keep my posts on my blog light, happy and simple. Usually they consist of photos, clothing or other things that are going on in my life, but today I just can't stop thinking about this whole possible government shut down and it is making me super annoyed.

Ignorant D.C. Republicans, please get over the Planned Parenthood issue. The abortion issue is getting old in general, but this is especially idiotic. Planned Parenthood is a women's HEALTH center. They provide  healthcare services to millions of women that would otherwise never be able to afford their annual exam, birth control method of choice or other family planning services. The GOP saying that they want to cut funding to a program that HELPS women to stay healthy and prevent serious health issues like..oh you know, CANCER....is ridiculous. I personally have been using Planned Parenthood as my women's health provider for the past 4 years, if it wasn't for them, there are times that I would have not been able to get the necessary exams to make sure I was healthy and there would have been no possible way for me to get birth control. I have health insurance now and I will still continue to use them. Women need Planned Parenthood and women's health services!

There, I said it...not anything revelational...I know. But I feel better now haha I just wish that the GOP would stop being so ignorant and actually care about social issues for once. The publics health is sooooo important! People over profit....ugh.

Oh and I was going to originally post this on Facebook but decided that was a horrible idea due to the political demographic that consists my friends list hahaha

Living/not living in the moment, empty holes and cupcakes.

While still living in San Antonio, a few weeks before our departure to the Great Northwest, my husband and I had a discussion about living in the moment. We realized that for the past 6+ months we hadn't been living in the moment at all, but rather rushing our minutes, hours, days, weeks and months because we wanted the time to go by so quickly, so that we could get out of Texas and back home to Washington.

I then made a conscious decision that from that moment forward I would make every effort to "live in the moment" and enjoy life as it is happening. This conscious decision lasted up until last week, when I realized I was no longer "living in the moment" but rather reverting back to my old ways of looking at the clock for the day to be over so that I could go home and be with my husband, or trying to rush through the week so that it would be my weekend.

This shouldn't be a surprise to me, when I was a child I donned myself as the "official time keeper", always having my watch on and always watching the time. I have had this constant struggle with enjoying the days as they come, one by one for a very long while. Now, don't get me wrong...there are moments I cherish as they are happening and enjoy being in, but for the most part during normal schedules of work and errands, I am not living in the moment. So I guess my goal is to try and live ALL my moments, "in the moment", instead of just the moments that I obviously enjoy (time with husband, family, friends etc). Hope you all are "living in the moment" and if any of you have helpful tips to how you accomplish this,  let me in on it :)

So now onto the two lighter topics, empty holes and cupcakes...

After having my ears stretched to a not-so-hardcore double 0 for about 2 years, I decided this morning that it was time to take them out. I took out my septum ring last month and I knew the moment would soon come where I no longer wished for my ears to be stretched either...it was inevitable. I look forward  to wearing normal earrings someday and am fully prepared for my ears to resemble a cats anus for quite sometime.

Lately I have been craving a delicious cupcake, so much that I woke this morning to tell my husband of my dream that consisted of peach pies and pretty cupcakes...much to his amusement. I took this as a sign that I need to just give into my craving and get a cupcake. I was at Whole Foods today and their bakery has all sorts of marvelous looking baked goods, so I picked out this rich, chocolatey confection rightfully named "Chocolate Eruption Cupcake. It was so rich that I had to scrape off the top frosting. My craving is no longer existent.
